[HANASHIR:12555] Re: Adding Pro Singers To Choir

I am faced with a different quandry at my Temple. I employ a very fine
professional choir made up of 10 singers from the Florida Grand Opera. My
difficulty is in mixing in the congregants who want to sing as volunteers
with this professional ensemble. Problems run the gamut from punctuality,
to attendance, to blend, to breath control, to timbre, to having a pencil,
to listening to the ensemble, to reading the music, to writing down my
directions, to even recalling that I gave directions, to kibbitzing, to
eating, and to kvetching. Oh, and the candy wrappers during any particular
exquisite moment my paid soprano is singing alone...........Well, at the end
of Yom Kippur, the hugs and thanks make it all go away till next year!
