[HANASHIR:12414] Re: 8 days of Chanukah

Thanks, Michael!!

I've never been quite satisfied with "one".

"A latke that isn't fat free" works beautifully! (Need not be huge, since it
is
not fat free, which more than makes up for any deficiency in size.) I love it!

Regarding 9 candles, yes of course that is technically right, but since we are
always one off, then candles are out for this song, which seems highly
unfortunate.

THerefore, here's one possible solution, which is actually pretty funny, I
think.

On the eighth night of Chanukah my dodi gave to me:

"Eight candles burning*+

(pause)

   * nine if-you count the shamash...

 (pause even longer)

+ 'leven-if it's Shabbat ('Shabbos' works even better, I think)...

7 rabbis praying ...

(OR you could start down from 11 with 10 (!), being careful to avoid candles in
connection with 8, and thus getting into an infinite loop! Or
Perhaps it would be fun to do the loop once or twice, and then get out of it
the
next time around.)

6 cantors dreying (see question below)

5 choc-late gelt...

I just now remembered the other version (non-alcoholic) of 4, 3, 2 which was:

4 sufganiyot
3 matzoh balls
2 gefilte fish

and a latke that isn't fat free. (thanks again)

You've made my day!

I don't think there would be much recognition in my congregation (including me)
of the verb to "drey". Please elucidate. This would be great, and would be
educational as well.
