Here's one of my Sukkot favorites for adults when things get silly. Then
again, Dion is in the Rock Hall of Fame so maybe a few of today's kids
*have* heard Why Must I Be a Teenager in Love.... Also don't forget Joe
Black's "Gonna Build a Sukkah"
G'mar tov,
Jeff

WHY MUST WE WAVE THE ETROG AND THE LULAV?
(Lyrics anonymous)
In Autumn every year (wah - ooo) when leaves begin to fall
We dwell in tabernacles (wah - ooo) with temporary walls
Each year I ask the stars up above
Why must we wave the Etrog and the Lulav?
When I was very young (wah - ooo) I understood it not
Why we wave them to and fro (wah - ooo) sometimes even on Shabbat?***
Each year I ask the stars up above
Why must we wave the Etrog and the Lulav?
First east, then south
Then west and north
Up and down and all around
We shake it back and forth
We take the palm and myrtle (wah - ooo) a willow branch or two
And bind them all together (wah - ooo) and take an etrog too
Each year I ask the stars up above
Why must we wave the Etrog and the Lulav?
This year I'll learn
I'll make a plan
To walk into my Sukkah
With a lulav in my hand
So at my favorite time of year, when all the leaves turn brown
>From every Sukkah I can hear, that wavy shaky lulav sound
Each year I ask the stars up above
Why must we wave the Etrog and the Lulav?
------
*** this was altered thusly for Reform audiences only!
