[HANASHIR:11969] RE: Report from CAJE

Oh now I'm really jealous! How nice of you to write to US while you're
SO busy! I know what it's like, so finding the time to do this is very
sweet of you Adrian! So Kenny Ellis was back! Let me
guess........... He sang "Matza Ball?" Haha. It's very strange to not
be there when you know what's happening and how wonderful all the talent
is. Wish I could see some of it online and buy some new CD's online
after seeing/hearing it! Haha. (Thought!)
Take care and have fun... and don't work too hard!

Subject: [HANASHIR:11968] Report from CAJE

Chaverim:

A brief moment amidst the chaos of CAJE 27 here at Trinity University in
San
Antonio, Texas. Your fearless list owner, also being the ch air of said
conference, is lucky to find this brief moment to compose and e-mail.

Lots going on here. First, an opening night program featuring some CAJE
long
and short-time veterans (including Sam Glaser, Cindy Paley, Joe Black,
Beth
Shafer, Robbie Sherwin, Janice Rubin, Raquel Gershon) and some new
faces
(Terri Liebestein, Stacey Beyer, Neil Katz, Dan Nichols, comedian Joel
Chasnoff.) A song, based on the conference theme, written by Carol Boyd
Leon, was taught by yours truly.

Last night, another great collaboration featuring a stellar cast of
Jewish
performers, including those named above, plus Fran Avni, Peri Smilow,
Jon
Simon, Mark Bloom, John and Josh Nelson, Steve Brodsky, Laura Berkson,
Wally
Schachet-Briskin, Steve Dropkin, Lisa Zur, Bruce Benson, Debbie Hafitz,
Peter and Ellen Allard, Judy Caplan Ginsburg, Julie Silver, Doug Cotler,
Mike Stein, Linda Ecker in Soundwrite's Sounds of Torah program. Many
art5ists performed their own original pieces written for the collection,
and
others collaborated on sparkling new renditions of pieces written by
others,
including Debbie Friedman, Craig Taubman, Karen Daniel and others.
There
was a comedy program featured Joel Chasnoff, Caryn Bark, Kenny Ellis and
Doug Cotler. Other artists performing that evening included Shai, Marge
Eisman, Rob Tobias. Apologies to anyone I've omitted.

Tonight more performances, and Wednesday evening our closing program.
Stay
tuned for further reports on the excellent programs being assembled by
our
CAJE on Stage chairs Patti Leonard, Doug Cotler and Benzy Kogen.

B'vracha,

Adrian
