[HANASHIR:11920] Advice on Mikes and Wireless

Chaverim,

We use amplified instruments and voices in a service setting that includes
4-5 vocalists, two guitars, keyboards, percussion, bass, and a wind
instrument or two, and are looking to purchase our own equipment. I would
appreciate any advice on the following topics:

1) Microphones: The Shure SM58 has been recommended as a workhorse
microphone at a relatively reasonable price. Any thoughts, agreement,
disagreement, or alternative suggestions?

2) We would consider using wireless mikes for the two guitarists (we have
an issue with too much bulkiness on the bimah), but are concerned that (1)
lapel mikes won't be effective enough and (2) that any kind of headset mike
will look too staged and performance-like for our setting. Any thoughts on
either topic or recommended systems?

3) We also would consider wireless amplification for the two guitars.
Following Adrian's recent comments, I would appreciate any recommendations
regarding systems you like to use in the relatively affordable price range
(say, no more than $400-600).

Thanks for any advice you can give.

B'shalom,
