[HANASHIR:11848] Re: Bar/Bat Mitzvah songs

Addition to Ellen's list of bar/bat mitzvah songs:

Carol Boyd Leon, "You Open Our Hearts" and "You Are My Child" in the new
"Songs From The Heart: Jewish Life Cycle" songbook; also, for adult b'nai
mitzvah, "I Stand Before You" (in same songbook)

Dear All,

I saved previous hanashir emails that list members had emailed in for Bar
and Bat Mitzvah song suggestions. I compiled them and thought you might want
to see the list. If anyone has any additional songs to add to this list,
please let us know. I'm not aware of exactly what recordings all of these
songs come from, so you'll have to do some investigating on your own.

Ellen Allard
Worcester, MA

Steve Dropkin, "Blessings"

Karen (I think Daniels) "Thirteen Years"

Hanna Tiferet Siegel, on her "Olamama" cd, the Friday night blessing of the
children - a beautiful musical dialogue between child and parent concluding
with the blessings Yevarech'cha Hashem V'yishmerecha.... (the Hebrew could
be changed from masc. to fem.)

Fred Small, "Everything's Possible"

Sam Glaser, "Blessing" which is on his "Across the River" CD, "Kol Bamidbar"
is "The Bat Mitzvah Song"

Debbie Friedman, ³Lechi Lach², "This is the Day", "World of your dreams"

Myrna Rabinowitz, "A Blessing For My Daughter"

Shir Hadash, "And You Shall Teach Your Children"

Bob Dylan, "Forever Young"

Margie & Ilene's tape called "Reflections" - it's the hebrew song Y'did
nefesh with an english counterpoint behind it that's about a bat mitzvah
girl

Rabbi Joe Black, "Blessing" , it¹s on one of his first two CDs and in his
song book,

Julie Silver, "Count Me In", "Why God Chose Me" from the Beyond Tomorrow
recording

Craig Taubman, "Sh'ma B'ni"

Rachelle Nelson, "Misheberach"
