Yonatan (et al):
It is policy of this list and others that subscribers not promulgate
virus warnings. Such warnings should only come from the list-owners or
from Shamash. Shamash has rather extensive anti-virus capabilities as it
is.
While the sharing of messages about viruses, etc. is usually done with
the best of intentions, it's best handled by those who monitor and check
the various anti-virus and hoax/urban legend sites regularly. Otherwise,
passing on messages about viruses is not much different than passing on
spam And in many cases, that's what the perpetrator of a virus hoax
message is after.
In addition, there are plenty of other places where people can get virus
warning. Such messages aren't really germane to the topic of the
hanashir list.
Thanks,
Adrian
