[HANASHIR:11769] Re: chord name clarification: 9 vs. add9

Now that we learned the 9 chords, a fun way to use it ... especially at camp
(usually sometime around the 3rd week on that really hot day when nobody wants
to sing), but really whenever things can blur a little between performance and
songleading. Or any place where those who are singing are also good at
percussion:

In some of those songs that get annoying after a while because they are so easy
(Hinei Rakevet, Rock O' My Soul, etc.) try playing these 9 chords for the
chords instead of the major chords. And jazz it up. For example, with Hinei
Rakevet, instead of D-A-E-A, substitute D9-A9-E9-A9. If moving all the way up
for an A9 is too tough when it gets fast, use an A7 (E7 barred on 5) instead.
So you're doing everything between the 3rd and 6th frets (if this is wrong,
please forgive me, I'm not holding my guitar right now) and it's lots of fun.
It's a way to kick some new life into an old song. Having done this at camp, I
know that campers will get into it too. Also bust out the kazoo and start
"soloing" on it or better yet, give it to some kids and let them!

Camp starts for me today (orientation). I'm sure it'll be a great summer and I
hope everyone else working at camp (and everywhere) is excited to sing and is
looking forward to the next few months!
