[HANASHIR:11547] Re:Jewish Music in America

I recently received the Zamir Chorale's Magazine which contained an
"Exploration of American Jewish and Jewish American Music". I have not yet
read the entire issue, but it is certainly information for all of us to read
and think about. Joshua Jacobson, Artistic Director of the Zamir Chorale of
Boston recently invited several of his colleagues (including Dr. Marsha
Bryan Edelman, Judith Tischler, Michael Isaacson, and Mathew Lazar) to share
their thoughts on the nature and condition of Jewish music in America. The
responses are fascinating and I would encourage all to read this. Very soon
the issue will be posted at the Zamir webisite www.zamir.org. When you go
to the site, click on the link in the upper left hand corner which says
"notes from zamir". They did tell me that it will be a week or so before
the issue is posted on-line, so keep checking. Also, they have invited
anyone to share their feelings and thoughts on this topic. To do so, send
your thoughts to notes (at) zamir(dot)org(dot)
