[HANASHIR:11495] Re: Shavuot Songs

Dear Chevrei,

I wrote this song several years ago (and have sadly forgotten my original
melody)...if you like the text, feel free to write your own melody; or I will
be writing a new melody for it this week and would be happy to sing over the
phone for anyone interested.

Barley and Wheat
by Sharon Steinberg

CHORUS:
Barley and wheat, barley and wheat,
These are two of the grains that we eat.

We pick them in spring-time so fresh and sweet.
Their readiness to harvest we celebrate with a feast.

>From planting until picking 49 days do we count
Then we commemorate the giving of God's commandments from the mount.

Steve--

I'm looking for recommendations, too. Here are some for you:

1) There are 10 (Ellen and Peter Allard)
2) One by One (Ellen and Peter Allard)
3) Saleinu (on Rachel Buchman's tape--Jewish Holiday Songs for Children)
4) Mi Barechev (Adi Sulkin's Shavuot tape)
5) Torah Li (very good for very young)
6) Sally Heckelman's Shavuot song (on her tape, "Sally and the
Daffodils")
7) Shavuot (in Manginot--good song for young kids--lots of opportunities
for repeating after you...)
8) Dundai...(Eretz Yisrael, b'lee Torah, etc...)
9) Ruth and Naomi (for older)--Klepper/Freedlander

I'm looking for more!

Sue Marx
