I totally agree with Robin.  As frustrating as it is, I do not make any 
policy as to attendance.  These are volunteers, they want to sound good, 
they're adults, and I trust that if they're not here, its for a good reason.  
I do, however, remind them often how important attendance is.  My favorite 
story is a singer from my new choir (and the chamber group, of course!)  who 
said he didn't have to come to rehearsal because he already knew the music!  
At the next rehearsal he attended, I made a generic comment about how 
rehearsal isn't just for individuals to learn their music,  rehearsal is for 
us to grow and to gel as a community, as a group.  I'm not sure if he got the 
message, but I hope so!  :-) Shawna
