[HANASHIR:11381] Summer Study Opportunities for Synagogue Musicians

This summer, send your soloist, organist, or choir director to one of our
successful study programs.

This year's Mifgash Musicale will take place June 30 - July 3 at HUC in
Cincinnati and focuses on Three Festival liturgy and repertoire, as well as
materials for some of the minor holidays (Chanukah and Purim). Topics will
include: the structure of the service, congregational melodies, volunteer choir
repertoire, cantillation for the Three Festivals (Ruth, Song of Songs,
Ecclesiastes), Hallel for the festivals, hakafot for Simchat Torah, ritual of
the shaking of the lulav, etc.

If you want to learn more about Shabbat liturgy and repertoire, the Synagogue
Music track at the Santa Cruz Kallah offers that opportunity. >From July
16-21, students will study with Cantor Evan Kent and other Kallah faculty to
enrich their knowledge of music and prayer while also enjoying the regular
Kallah programming.

For lovers of choral music the North American Jewish Choral Festival is a must!
This year, hundreds of singers will gather from July 21-25 at the Nevele Hotel
in Ellenville, NY. The daily program includes community sings, instant
ensembles, a wide variety of workshops, and evening performances by the
country's top Jewish choirs.
