Shamash, the Jewish Internet Consortium founded by Hebrew College, and
host to many Jewish mailing lists, including this one, is asking for our
support. They write:

provide better service using more modern software to our users.  This
will require funding and support from our users.  New software,
hardware, operating systems, and hosting services cost Shamash real
funds.

Only a single list has contributed donations to Shamash to help support
this project in the past year.

Shamash needs your donation for us to continue to provide updated
software and services to you. We would like to upgrade our mailing list
software, operating system and hardware, but these changes require funds
from our users, in order to make this possible.

Thank you for your interest in making a donation to Shamash in support
of our ongoing work to bring Jewish Internet resources to the

I'm asking each of you to consider a small gift to Shamash in support of
their efforts to upgrade. Shamash was the first major online consortium
site for Jewish organizations, and they deserve our continuing support.

which is a non-profit organization and the administrative home of

I'd also ask the favor that you either note on the check or an enclosed
note that you are donating as a member of the hanashir list. Also, if
you do send a gift, please drop me a line so I'll know how many of our
subscribers are helping out.
