[HANASHIR:11267] Toleration of Off-Topic Postings

Fran (et al):

In light of the ongoing situation, I have taken a somewhat more lax approach
than I usually might on postings that aren't exactly on topic. To date, I
have not received one complaint about such postings, whereas in the past
some off-topic threads have generated a flood of private e-mail to me as
list owner.

I would ask us all to try and keep our list centered around issues
pertaining to those involved in the transmission of Jewish heritage,
knowledge, faith, history, etc. through music as much as possible, but, in
the absence of strong sentiment to the contrary (please e-mail me privately)
I will continue to show some tolerance on postings related to the current
situation in Israel that may be only tangential to the main thrust of the
hanashir list. I would ask that those who post please indicate clear subject
lines so that those who choose to delete without reading them may do so
quickly. If the number of off-topic messages grows too high, or I receive
enough complaints privately, I will then have to ask for some restraint.

Had not the thread developed, we might never have seen the fascinating
message that Gerry Kaye forwarded to the list, which was quite directly
relevant to the list mission.

B'vracha,

Adrian
