[HANASHIR:11066] Re: songs of freedom- Noah's Early in the..

Gotta put in a word for Noah Budin's "Early in the Morning" -
A couple of years ago, my shul was invited to a local church to join in
commemorating MLK day. It was a large church, with an almost entirely
African-American membership. Their choir nearly blew the roof off, with some
of the most beautiful (and rockin') singing I have ever heard. Then it was
our turn. My very unprofessional, slightly pitch-challenged, but equally
enthusiastic choir and I timidly took the stage. We performed a few songs,
and received a very nice (polite) response. Then we came to our big "closer."

"Early in the Morning" not only had everyone out of their seats dancing, the
church choir ended up joining us for what turned into a 15 minute love-fest.
It was incredible.
And, I have to thank Noah for a truly great "moment" -- when the church
Reverend declared that (contrary to the belief of anyone who has seen me
dance) "Sister Bella - you've got SOUL!"
Thanks Noah - great song!
