I think it also really depends on the airline, the staff and the city. In 
Montreal I recently had a hassle about my baby Taylor - which fits into 
anything - because in Quebec there's a new ruling about 'instruments' and it 
has strings!! They of course could be used for strangulation etc. Ties and 
scarves will be outlawed next.
No problem flying from Texas on Delta though. i don't kno what will happen 
next week when I fly to England from Montreal for the Limmud conference.
