Kim -- Can you provide some info? Are you looking for a "sermon anthem"
for the Cantor to sing, or are you planning to sing TO him, and do you
have a choir that will be singing? There are some fantastic services,
composer Jose Bowen comes to mind, if you are looking to do an entirely
different service. It might help if you told us what style of
congregation (do you use instruments) and what the new cantor is
comfortable with.
If you have a choir that will be singing with the cantor, I'd suggest:
Lisa Levine's "Ruach Elohim" (arranged by Stephen Richards for Cantor,
two-part choir and keyboard); Robbie Sherwin's "Hodu" (two-part);
Rachelle Nelson's "Modim Anachnu Lach" (for cantor and SATB) -- all are
uplifting and beautiful pieces. -- Marge Eiseman
