[HANASHIR:10295] my clever daughter

Friends-

I'd like to share with you something my daughter came up with. On Wednesday
my mother-in-law passed away. Yesterday and today she gave people pieces of
paper to write down memories of her grandmother. She also had small pieces of
paper that she had people simply write down adjectives that described her. It
was to be a gift for my husband, Michael. I told her we could read some of
these during Shiva.

Tonight we did a Shabbat in the home and since some of the family were not
going to be here for Shiva, she presented it to Michael. He "picked" some out
of the origami memory box and read them. It was so wonderful.

So many times when we do a minyon and we ask people to speak about the
deceased person no one knows what to say. Wouldn't it be nice if people wrote
in a "memory book" and it was read at this time? All of a sudden we went from
only thinking about a dying person - so ill - to remembering when she was a
vital part of our lives.
Not bad for an almost nine year old...
Shabbat Shalom-
