you are correct! I have found more and more that pronounciation of words has
become very sloppy. students who do not hear words pronounced correctly will
not read correctly. many teachers not taking the time to correct students
(esp when they pronounce a chaf as a kaf and then want to start pronouncing
the chet with a K sound, too. Is there a congenital thing about the chaf
sound, similar to people who can't roll their r's?) lots of elision where
there is an ayin, too: v'al kol yisrael being pronounced veeyal....... and
halayluyah..........and.................

another tricky one brought to  my attention:
in shalom aleichem: distinguishing malAchei from mal'chei in the very first
verse. take a look!
