[HANASHIR:10119] Rosh Chodesh for the young

- Date: Fri 19 Oct 2001 09.08 (GMT)
Here's what the director of a preschool I worked at did at our Rosh Chodesh
assembly:
(not especially imaginative, but it worked really well)
To the tune of Where is Thumbkin:
Today is Rosh Chodesh (they repeat)
A new hebrew month (repeat)
What's the name of the Chodesh? (repeat)
It's called Cheshvan (or whatever it is...then they repeat)
...then we would sing a related song if there was a holiday in that month,
like a Sukkot or Chanukah song, Mi She Nichnas Adar, etc.
Another idea that just came to me, feel free to use:
Oh Mr. Moon, Moon, pretty silvery moon, please shine down on me
Oh Mr. Moon, moon, pretty silvery moon, hiding behind a tree,
Every Rosh Chodesh you get so small (can act out w/hand motions),
That we can hardly see you at all...
Oh Mr. Moon, Moon, pretty silvery moon, please shine down on, wontcha shine
down on, please shine down on me!
Chodesh Tov!
Joanna
