[HANASHIR:10051] Re: music info for FREE

I asked Adrian's permission to post this. Sorry if some of you are
receiving it twice.

Quite often, I join music or performance related organizations to see what
they have to offer all of us as Jewish performers. I use myself as the
guinea pig before I pass the information on to others.

For the past year, I have been a member of an organization called Just Plain
Folks. It is for independent musicians primarily. Their newletter and
website provide some of the most informative data on the music world and
best of all --- membership is FREE. That's right, all you have to do is
sign up -- send an e-mail to jpnotes (at) aol(dot)com and put "I want to join"
in the
subject field. In the text of the email, put your name and your City/State
and Country. Also, please CC (carbon copy) me (judy (at)
jewishentertainment(dot)net)
so I know you signed up. What do you have to lose? And when you sign up,
you will automatically be entered in their prize drawings for trips to
showcases and music gear. So do it now before you forget. If you want to
know more about it all, read the lengthy letter below. If you don't have
time, just sign up.

They also have a song/album competition each year. I was just informed that
one of my albums and one of my songs are in the finals in the Children's
category. And I paid nothing to enter. You'll love this organization.
Sign up NOW. Thanks!

More about Just Plain Folks:

Just Plain Folks is the worlds largest free music organization. With members
in all 50 US States and over 50 countries around the world, they offer an
amazing opportunity to become part of a real life human music community.
Their website, jpfolks.com, offers one of the busiest message boards in the
industry, with an amazingly friendly and active lyricist community leading
the way. Also on the site are the Mentor home pages, which are a volunteer
group of industry professionals on staff who answer questions from members
and write articles on topics including songwriting, publishing, producing,
legal issues, promotions, performance tips, technical assistance and more.
Many of them are highly recognizable educators who provide their wisdom and
advice free to Just Plain Folks members through the mentor program. The
renowned Just Plain Notes newsletter is emailed 2-3 times a month and
includes articles, opportunities, networking and friendly encouragement from
the organizations founder. Visit them on the internet at www.jpfolks.com.

Beyond the Internet, the organization offers a growing number of local
chapters (with more being added every month). These chapters meet for
monthly meetings, host local showcases for their members and host free
workshops and seminars throughout the year. In addition, the organization's
founder travels nearly year round on Roadtrips where they host showcases
open to ALL members at all levels and in all genres of music at some of the
top live venues in North America. (With plans to visit Europe, Australia and
more in the future.) The organization also features what may be the world's
largest music awards program, with over 35,000 songs entered for 2001 alone.
Best of all, all these programs are free!

Once a year the organization calls on it's members to help recruit more
talented and passionate artists, writers and industry folks to join. What
started with only 60 members in September of 1998, has grown to over 11,000
members in September of 2001. Just Plain Folks welcomes you to join them,
get involved, learn a lot and have a lot of fun. Their battle cry is "Learn,
Succeed and Thrive." Their Motto is "We're All In This Together!" and they
put their actions where their mouth is.

During the 2001 Just Plain Folks Membership Drive, new members and the
members who recruit them can win some prize rewards ranging from free
magazine subscriptions and books to 1 Year TAXI Memberships and a $2,500
dollar Korg PA-80 Keyboard, all just for getting involved.

To join the group, simply email jpnotes (at) aol(dot)com and place "I want to
join"
in the subject field. In the text of the email, place your name and your
City/State and Country. This information is used in case you win a reward,
and also to determine what area you live in for future event and chapter
location planning. In addition, please CC (carbon copy) the person who
invited you to join so they know you signed up and also so they can earn an
entry into the Membership Drawings as well. It's just that simple.

We look forward to having you involved in our community!

Sincerely,

The Just Plain Folks Community
