[HANASHIR:9850] Choral song of peace

Dear Friends,
At this busy and difficult time, I hesitate to inform you about the 
availability of a new choral work.  But because several of you have been 
seeking songs of peace and this is a new setting of Shalom Rav, I've decided 
to inform the listserve of its availability.

The melody is the same congregation-friendly one that's included in my 
"Songs From The Heart: Family Shabbat" recording/songbook.  You can listen 
to Shalom Rav at amazon.com (but the recording and the songbook that's got 
the unison version are also available through soundswrite.com and 
jewishmusic.com).  The SAB arrangement, which is quite accessible to 
volunteer choirs and whose soprano line stays low, has a relatively easy 
piano accompaniment and optional classical guitar intro.  It's what I 
presented last month on stage at CAJE with the assistance of Cantor Bella 
Gelven and Nancy Linder.  I know of at least one choir singing it over these 
High Holy Days.

Here's what Cantor Miranda Beckenstein, Director of Ed at Temple Israel in 
Westport, CT says about it:

"I love the melody. I used it with my Junior Choir [the unison version] and 
with my Senior Choir and as a solo.  Congregants commented on how pretty it 
is.  Arranging for SAB, the 3 voices that most choirs are likely to have is 
very savvy - tenors being in short supply. At this time when peace is most 
needed, this arrangement of the Shalom Rav, with piano accompaniment, is a 
welcome new addition to our repertoire."
