Hi there,
My name is Yonatan Koch. Some of you I know, and some I don't, but as a writer
although I really haven?t written much since school started just a little over
two weeks ago, I wrote this following Tuesday?s events.
Actually, I wrote it after my sister said, ?You?re no safer in NY then I am in
Israel? Boy did that line hit me.
This poem is dedicated to my sister Shira, my hero. After everything she and
Jason have gone through in Israel and after what we?ve gone through here, I am
just in a constant state of shock.
This poem is also dedicated to all those who have been affected by the
Terrorism in NY. My heart goes out to you and I want you to know that I?m
thinking about you right now.
As the Managing Editor of my school paper, The Pioneer, I was listening to the
radio in the newsroom Tuesday and I couldn?t believe what I was hearing. While
listening, I was writing an article, which will be on my website
(http://www.Ldwriter.com/special) within the next few days, about my campus?s
reaction to the news. I never realized until this week how close I am to New
York. The scariest part was that I kept hearing the line, ?This is suppose to
happen in the Middle East, not here.? Sorry, it can happen anywhere, as we have
all witnessed.
Thank you for taking the time to read the following poem I wrote.-- Yonatan
WHY? WHO? WHAT?
Why? Who? What?
While we all have many questions?there are no instant answers.
We must all pray. Pray for those who have been taken from us...
Pray for those who tried...tried to save others and lost their lives just
because...
just because they were doing their job
Pray for civilians who went to work...
just doing their job and now they?ve been taken from us
Why? Who? What?
Questions continue to surround us
Thoughts continue to surround us
While we don?t have answers we can only continue to ask.
BUT we must... we must question... and WE MUST pray
Don?t expect an answer, don?t expect one
But pray...
Pray for the safety and the lives of those that surround us,
and pray for the ones who aren?t with us, because they chose to go into work
Why? Who? What?
