I can see we have reached a new high in topics on this list!  Actually, with 
several hours of singing on RH and YK, what do you people do on the bimah in 
case of phlegm, etc.  Is it OK to keep a water bottle up there?  (Of course, 
not on Yom Kippur!)

When I was young, the cantor used to keep a bottle of schnapps under his 
lectern.  Does that help during a long service?
