[HANASHIR:9758] Re: May There Always Be Sunshine

Thanks, Laura - I just subscribed!

I have a question - is Hassidic music considered "folk" music?

song/wordbook Rise Up Singing, though my copy is not handy at the moment to
check it.

Magazine (exclamation point intentional, it's part of their title). This is
a songbook with words and chords to about 1,200 songs (including some Hebrew
songs in transliteration) organized by theme with a comprehensive index and
a section on rounds with the music included. Each song has a recording
reference as well, so if you are looking at the words and chords but don't
know how a particular song goes you can at least which recording it's on.
I'm currently on my 2nd copy of Rise Up Singing. My first one fell apart
from years of use at camps, singalongs, etc.

as well as a resource feature available to subscribers. This is an
incredible magazine, by the way, for anyone interested in any type of
world/folk music. Lots of great articles, features on performers,
"teach-ins" on different instruments, children's music column, songfinder
section, a number of songs published in each issue, and more... Having been
a subscriber for many years, I highly recommend it. In addition to the
magazine, Sing Out! has published several songbooks which are available
through their catalog.
