Both rabbis I've asked don't know, but one suggested that it has something
to do with the fact that one of them is part of a construct (compound word,
simichut, in Hebrew) and the other isn't.

Subject: [HANASHIR:9684] Mi Chamocha grammar
A choir I am working with asked me to clarify the reasons why we sing Mi
Chamocha ba-elim A----, and then Mi Kamocha. I have been told it is a
fine point of Hebrew grammar but they would like a clear explanation.
Can anyone help?
(JUST A NOTE TO THE MEMBERS OF THIS WONDERFUL LIST: THANK YOU SO SO
MUCH FOR SENDING ME REMEDIES FOR VOCAL RECOVERY!!!!!)
