To Roslyn, Rabbi Schachet and any others looking for music for Jewish
rite of passage:
For the Sheva Brachot (and many other options), you should
have a copy of the CANTOR'S LIFECYCLE MANUAL, published by the
American Conference of Cantors. It was published in 2000 and is a
compendium of musical selections divided into the following
categories: Birth, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Weddings, Healing Prayers,
Funerals, and Blessings. As an example, the Sheva B'rachot are
included with compositions by Israel Alter, Adolph katchko, Allen
Leider, an arrangement by Benji Schiller, and Ben Steinberg. All
selections are presented with the melody line and words only, with
some selections including chord symbols. For information, call
770-390-0006, or write to The American Conference of Cantors, 55911
Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Bldg. 1360, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30338; or
fax a request to 770-390-0020. You will find the volume to be
indispensible.
