[HANASHIR:9165] Re: "Extraneous topics"

While I appreciate the thought, I do need to humbly point out that,
originally, because of my early involvement with UAHC internet activities,
and because Hava Nashira was hosted by a UAHC camp and NFTY, I was permitted
to create this list on Shamash through UAHC's agreement with Shamash for
list hosting services. The OSRUI folks have graciously allowed this list to
serve a scope well beyond the immediate needs of OSRUI, the UAHC, and the
Hava Nashira workshop. On occasion, Jerry and I have disagreed on what is
and is not appropriate for the list, but he has never been insistent. One
catches more flies with honey.

So it is certainly appropriate for Jerry to voice his concerns. However, I
am hopeful that OSRUI and the UAHC will continue to allow Hanashir to be a
forum available to all persons involved in Jewish Music songleading &
education, and transmission of Jewish knowledge and heritage through music,
without any particular denominational bent.

I'd like to think that I've done a reasonable job over the years at taking
care of this list, and that is has served OSRUI but also served the greater
Jewish music community. and I hope that this will continue for years to
come.

I believe that Adrian -- and not Jerry or UAHC or Shamash -- should be the
only party to determine what is within the scope of this list.

What some of you label as "extraneous" topics...I have found to very
on-topic
and very informative.

If this information is irrelevant to some, then let them read -- and discuss
-- elsewhere! It is a big Net out here.

Thank you.
