Hello,
I am preparing to chant from the book of Ruth for Shavuot and I have a
few questions about unusual trope combinations. Since I only know torah
trope I am using that instead of the magilot trope so some of my
questions might not have clear answers but for the ones that do I'd like
to get it right.
Here are my questions: Please feel free to write to me personally as
this might not be of interest to the whole list.
Thank you to anyone who can help me with these:
I am doing Chapter 3 of Ruth:
verse 2 and 13: a mercha followed by a pashta - I don't know how to sing
the mercha. I think I may have asked this question on here before. Do
you just ignore the mercha and sing the first note of pashta for it?
verse 4: a pashta followed by a pashta - I don't know how to chant the
first pashta.
verse 14: two mercha's followed by sof pasuk
verse 18: a munach followed by a mapach. I think I used to know this
one and have forgotten. It's a unique kind of fancy munach used at the
beginning of a phrase - am I right?
Thank you for your help.
Ruth
