[HANASHIR:8860] introducing new music

Along with the other really good suggestions offered, in my experience, it
also helps to have a supportive rabbi, because if the rabbi "sanctions" new
music (read: change), then the congregation will be more receptive.
Teaching the new piece before services or even just playing it
instrumentally as the prelude helps get it into their ears. There are still
congregants who think the Sulzer-era music is really ancient. Some
education via a sermon may help people become more objective about what to
many is a highly subjective issue.
