[HANASHIR:8816] On the sidelines

Dear Chevre,
Well, it looks like some of us who want to attend HN this year won't be
able to. I certainly understand the rationale behind limiting the number of
people who can attend. I had a couple of good reasons to wait to make a
decision, and some that weren't as good (like not having a minute between
congregational duties and teaching a class at a local university). I did
send in my check on Friday to hold a "wait list" spot. Some people in my
congregation are saying, "Surely you can find another convention to attend
related to music." The answer is that I don't think ACC-GTM or the Choral
Festival will have the same effect as Hava Nashira. About the only way I can
begin replace HN is to listen to my tapes and CDs from the last two years and
find music I haven't used yet. But nothing can replace being part of the
community for those few days at OSRUI. I will probably be at CAJE, but that
also is not the same. So, I am feeling like I did the first time I applied
to Kallah at OSRUI (this dates me - 1967)- the program was closed and I was
rejected....until the camp decided to create the Tzofim program. So I got my
miracle then and attended and had a great time. I will hope for something to
work out this time, too.
