[HANASHIR:8812] new ritutals

The story about the orange was interesting. Some new rituals that have
meaning to a group are great, but one thing about Mrs. Herschel's story
bothered me..."One ritual
they devised was placing a crust of bread on the Seder plate, as a sign ...."
During Passover, the ritual to get rid of all leavened bread and crumbs is a
very significant part of the Passover story. Adding rituals that are in
opposition to the ones that all ready exist is like saying that the "new
covenant" replaces the old. I'm sure that was not the intention, but it still
bothered me anyway. Adding an orange does not change the existing tradition
that has specific meaning to the Passover Holiday. Ln Rochester, Ny
