[HANASHIR:8809] Re: Orange on the seder plate

Joanna, please accept my gratitude to you for sharing the scallion/dayenu
gambit. For several years, my wife, Andrea, and I have led the first Seder for
a family gathering of very close friends. This year Andrea brought along a
supply of scallions, and we explained what was to be done with them and when.
It was a raucously funny and thoroughly acceptable addition to our service for
all participants, and their ages ranged from a 4-year old sheyna to her 92-year
old zayde. The zayde was happy to note that something from last year's service
was not repeated this year; i.e., somehow, so many of the family members
accidentally spilled wine on the zayde that he thought a new tradition had been
introduced.

Hag sameach v'shira,

Harry Higgins
