[HANASHIR:8783] Music is a Shared Language

Found this brief article that I had saved from a 1991 issue of the NY Times.
I thought it was very appropriate for all of us and I wanted to share:

"Music is not meditation or, ultimately, any other private act. Though it
can be meditative and private - even selfish - eventually it, like any
language, demands to be shared. For musicians, the safest place for sharing
is the world of other musicians. We seek out one another, play for and with
one another, have our own mores and our own slang. We are a mutual
encouragement society. The impulse to play with friends grows like a vine
stretching over a wall. It grows into the desire to play for everyone.
Here is the juncture where you learn the most about your life -- right here,
in the turning outward from a private party of like minded friends to the
arena of public transmission."

I hope to share with, learn from and grow with many of you this summer.
Happy Pesach!
