[HANASHIR:8582] Re: b'nai mitzvah classes

I only learned to chant Torah a year ago myself. I participated in a
Torah chanting seminar taught by Cantor Josee Wolff, using the book
written by Cantor Wolff and Cantor Marshall Portnoy. I thought the
book was so clear and well-structured that I decided to teach my
b'nai mitzvah students the trope using the same book. Each book
comes with a cd as well, so they have the book and can listen to the
cd at home as well. It worked very well. Now the students are able
to sound out most of the trope for their Torah portion by themselves
(which, I believe makes it stick) and it all sounds very familiar to
them and easy to learn.

We work on the prayers together in class and I make them a tape as well.
