Meris,
The song you are referring to is "Es Brennt." the complete Yiddish title is
'Undzer Shtetl Brent," (our shtetl is burning). The title you gave
("Hayarah Boeret") is the Hebrew translation of the Yiddish. It was written
by Mordechai Gebirtig, and is included in many different anthologies of
Yiddish music. I believe the music with chords and yiddish lyrics and
transliteration) can be found in Mir Trogn A Gezang. it is also, I think , in
Shoshan Kalisch's Yes, We Sang. A Hebrew translation (text only) can be
found in the Ramah songbook (the old red version). Another Hebrew
translation (along with an English translation) can be found in the four
volume Anthology of Yiddish Tolksong put out by the Hebrew University.
I am not aware of any music that is set to the Hebrew lyrics, specifically.
there are a number of CDs with the song in Yiddish. I have them at home,
though and will check for you which are the best.
