[HANASHIR:8366] Re: Dr. Seuss

Shirona - I've seen it and it's adorable. The Jews Down in Jewville love
Shabbat, someone tries to take it away, the concept of "we are all
responsible for each other" wins the day, and Shabbat reigns. Shabbat is a
feeling and a space and a time and no one can take it away. It is told in
the catchy meter of a Seuss story and is very clever. It's more adult humor
than child's, so it's not a matter of selling Shabbat. It's another way to
truly enjoy it and think of it in different terms.

Of course, I wrote a Purim Shpiel in Seuss meter, so I'm partial to the
dancing words and colors this particular rhythm and rhyme scheme produces.
I've only seen it once, and will find my source to pass it on.

Hoping this thread doesn't turn into dreck!
For Jews are all sisters and cousins and brothers
And aunts and uncles
and Dads and Mothers
Papas and Nanas and
and Sing-ers and Pray-ers
Halleluhu-ers and not nay-say-ers!
We're people of action, people of the Book
People who sing and dance and cook!
Yes, cook, cook, cook we certainly do
I'm a proud Jew - hows by you?

Tee hee.....Robbi (sorry - I don't know what came over me - maybe it was the
sushi for lunch.....)
