As someone so eloquently put it..... most people have the outside world 99%
of their time so when they come into shul we should do exclusively jewish
stuff. Well let me tell you why I mentioned "The green grass grow all
around." While I would never use that song in the reform supplemental
school I teach in, at the conservative day school, most of the songs I do
with the kids are almost all in hebrew, all of the time. (My vocabulary has
grown by leaps and bounds!) So when I throw in a song like the above
mentioned one, it is surely for fun. They love to sing "secular songs." I
don't have to explain anything about the tree, the torah, the mystical
connections to the heavens, because these kids have a much more solid
foundation than my reform supplemental kids do. So........ that's where it
was coming from. Sorry for the confusion.
