Ellie,

I'm a SF Bay Area native and very active in the Jewish community here, and
I can definitely point your friend in the right direction for a place to
daven. Your friend has a lot of options though, so let me ask you some
questions before I start rattling off minyanim...

Is your friend interested in hangin' with the 20-somethings, 30-somethings,
and/or odler?

Where is he/she going to be staying? There are good places in San
Francisco, Marin Country, Oakland and the East Bay, and down in the Palo
Alto Area on the Peninsula, but getting around on a Friday night can be a
pain, so its best to go somewhere kinda close.

Lastly, are we talking Friday night or Saturday morning?

If you can get back to me with this, I'll be happy to fire back a list of
places to check out!
