Chevre,
Generally, I try to judge how much I should charge for my services by how
many hours it takes to prepare and present. $50.00/hour is very reasonable, I
think. Many people charge much more. If a Shabbat service, for example, takes
one hour to review and prepare, and 2 hours of your time to present, you
should be paid $150.
If a Festival service takes longer to prepare and longer to present, I would
start there and work up. This also tends to work well when and if people ask
you why you charge what you charge. It's pretty cut and dried, and not very
subjective.
