[HANASHIR:7829] Re: Parents' Blessing and Circle

Dear Chevre,
I am stepping out of my usual position as a "lurker" on this list (I
hate that term but it is the only one I have available) to put in a couple of
comments.
First, I remember Ken Chasen of Mah Tovu singing a Parents' blessing
at CAJE 25 that did not include the Serenity prayer and was not yet on a Mah
Tovu CD, unless they have come out with one since August. I am sure that
contacting Mah Tovu through Steve Brodsky will give you the answer.
Second, I wanted to add a little bit of trivia to the discussion
about "Circle" by Harry Chapin. There was a show that was on CBS, I
believe, in the very early 1970s called "Make a Wish" that was geared towards
giving children information on a variety of topics. Tom Chapin was the host
of the show - he would sing and do narration for the reports featured. The
credits at the end of the show would always list Harry Chapin as the composer
of the songs Tom sang during the program. Harry Chapin was composing for
"Make a Wish" before he came out with his first album that included "Taxi."
"Circle" was written for "Make a Wish," if I remember correctly, so Tom
Chapin would have been the first to perform the song publicly.
Okay, back to work - yes, I am still holding down the musical fort
in the capital of Kansas, and I may be back at Hava Nashira this year. Have
a good secular New Year, everyone!
