[HANASHIR:7621] House concerts

Dear Friends,

Last year, my husband and I held a house concert for Laura Berkson. It was
very successful and though we haven't done any more of them, I've noticed
some interest on this list regarding them. So I thought I would share this
with you, in the event that any of you are thinking about hosting a house
concert. Robbi Sherwin had put us in touch with the Rouses (whose email I'm
forwarding to you) who host a monthly house concert. They put us on their
email list to get announcements about upcoming concerts.

If any of you are thinking about hosting a house concert, go for it. We had
a wonderful time and the audience was SO grateful to be able to attend a
concert in an intimate setting. And Laura was fantastic! It's really a
special evening. Feel free to email me privately about the specifics.

Happy Hanukah to you all!

Fondly,

Ellen Allard

Michael Smith in Concert
Saturday Concert Nearly Sold Out

Well, after taking reservations at three sold-out Tom Russell concerts we
are
ALMOST sold out for the Michael Smith concert on Saturday night but still
have
plenty of space available for the Sunday concert. If you are hoping to come
to
the Saturday night show please get your paid reservation in as quickly as
possible. If we are completely sold out by the time we get your reservation
we
will notify you as quickly as possible. You are free to send us an e-mail
telling us of your plans, but you will not be placed on the reservation list
until payment is received.
For those of you who do not know Michael Smith, he is probably best
known for having written ìThe Dutchmanî, ìSpoon Riverî, ìThe Last Day of
Pompeiiî, ìSister Clarissaî as well as a bundle of other pieces. His songs
have
been recorded by Suzy Boggus, Jimmy Buffet, Gibson & Camp, Steve Goodman,
David
Allen Coe, Cindy Mangsen and The Four Freshmen as well as a complete album
by
Ann Hills.
He has performed at virtually every major Folk Festival in
both
Canada and the U. S. With a wonderfully full voice and great guitar playing
ability, he is an amazing songwriter who is also a highly accomplished
performer.
Based on the previous ìMichael Smith at Rouse Houseî, I expect this
to
be a memorable experience.

ìMichael Smith stands out as one of the undisputed geniuses among
singer/songwriters.î

 Emilie Aronson Opening!

We have been talking with Emilie for several years trying to get an
opportunity to have her do an opener for one of our shows and until now we
were
unable to get it accomplished. Now, at last, we have Emilie coming in from
Dallas to do the opener for Michael.
Emilie is an accomplished musician who has been performing in the Dallas
environs for a number of years with occasional forays into other areas. We
are
indeed looking forward to having her in our home at last. It promises to be
the
perfect way to open the evening (or afternoon) with Michael Smith.
