I use a system of about 36 patterns using the tropes (for Torah):

Kadma-mapach-pashta-zakef(munach)-katon
Mercha-tipcha-munach-etnachta
Mercha-tipcha-mercha-sof pasuk

The above being the major patterns and variations in the tropes within them
(but always in order)

Then

revii
kadma-azla
darga-tevir and mercha(--different in sound than with tipcha) tevir
telisha k'tanah
telisha g'dola
zakef gadol
munach-zarka-munach-segol (and variations)
gershayim
pazeir
shalshelet

There are others, but when I teach my trope class I teach the above patterns.
I just created a CD of Torah and Haftarah tropes to use in my pre-bar mitz
trope class.

BTW--how does American reform trop differ from other trope systems? Is it a
difference between Binder and Rosen or Rosowsky or something more fundamental?
