[HANASHIR:7408] RE: Temple Musician Wkshps

Eliot raises an excellent point, especially noting that Hava Nashira is,
ostensibly, a UAHC sponsored event, under the auspices of OSRUI and NFTY.

And, as the GTM/ACC is a UAHC affiliate, its members should be eligible to
participate in the UAHC seminars. Shouldn't they?

Let's here from the folks in NY.

One thing to be aware of:
Anyone can attend Hava Nashira and the North American Jewish Choral
Festival, both of which are great learning opportunities. However, most
of the other workshops offering training to temple musicians are only open
to people who work for or are members of UAHC affiliated congregations.

As someone who belongs to the Guild of Temple Musicians, but works for two
unaffiliated congregations, I'm not eligible to attend those training
workshops. I understand that the UAHC must draw the line somewhere, and
I'm a strong advocate of affiliation in both of my congregations, for a
whole variety of reasons.

Meanwhile, I thought you should all be aware of that restriction.

  B'Shalom,
  Elliot
