The translation from the sheet music(available from TMP) is:
Beautiful Chanukah is here
Eight candles for me.
We are singing this song in Adult Choir and I just got the music last night!

Here is a word for word translation, but it will have to be "manipulated" a
bit to make sense in English
Hanuka = Chanuka
linda = beautiful
sta = is
aki = here
ocho = eight
candelas = candles
para = for
mi = me

Subject: [HANASHIR:7342] Ladino songs
I would like to purchase a couple of CD's of Ladino songs to help me add to
my concert repertoire this part of my heritage. Can anyone suggest some good
names? My computer is not fast enough to play Real Audio so I have to guess a
little when ordering. I like to listen to good, clear voices with acoustic
accompaniment.
One more question: I will be teaching Ocho Kandelikas to my adult choir
for Chanukah and would like to give them a word-for-word translation. I have
the music from The Jewish Fake Book which is terrific but doesn't include that
kind of info. Can anyone help? The Ladino words I need translated are:
Hanuka linda sta aki
ocho kandelas para mi
Thanks,
