Hi All,
I'll be leading services for Succot this week, and this will be the first time
I'll have had the opportunity to chant hallel. Usually we just read excerpts
from the text rather than sing it, but this time I'd like to sing part of it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking to do one or two settings that
would be relatively easy to learn and that I could sing without accompaniment.
Something simple and/or repetitive enough for the congregation to learn would
be even better. Does anyone have experience with any of the settings in Zamru
Lo?
I had thought of doing Danny Maseng's version of Hodu Lo from the Soul on Fire
CD, but that turns out to be a setting of Psalm 136. It's my understanding
that hallel is only Psalms 113-118. Am I wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Ellie Knepler
