just to expand on what Andy said, it is customary to bow for baruch, bar'chu, 
etc. and to be standing upright by the time you say God's name  - usually for 
baruch you bend the knees, for ata you bow forward and for Ad-nai you stand 
up straight.   likewise kor'im - knees, umishtachavim - bow and then rise up 
so that you are standing straight by the time you get to melech malchei 
ham'lachim....
then of course there's the approach and retreat steps at the beginning and 
end of the amidah and the rising up on the toes for kadoshX3 and all kinds of 
other interesting choreography.  do si do and swing your partner....
my favorite is hoshanot on sukkot  :)
