[HANASHIR:6808] Re: help

Janeen,

I've mentioned this song before on this list and I think it bears repeating.
If you are interested in the melody, let me know.
I've sung it at women's retreats and it is a very powerful song. I've also
sung it at religious services; and I've changed the word "woman" to "man" or
"child" in the song as well.

Ellen

I AM A WOMAN
by Ruth Pelham

I am a woman here on planet earth
I have the breath of life in me, a gift given at birth
No one, nobody, no powers that be
Can ever, ever, ever take this gift away from me.

I am a woman here on planet earth
I have a song to sing in me, a song sung birth to birth
No one, nobody, no powers that be
Can ever, ever, ever take this gift away from me.

I am a woman here on planet earth
Flesh, bones, and blood am I, before and after birth
No one, nobody, no powers that be
Can ever, ever, ever take this gift away from me.

I am a woman here on planet earth
We have the will to live in us, we learned that at our birth
No one, nobody, no powers that be
Can ever, ever, ever take this gift away from me.

I am a woman here on planet earth
I have the breath of life in me, a gift given at birth
No one, nobody, no powers that be
Can ever, ever, ever take this gift away from me.

I need a little help ... I've just been asked to sing at the annual "Take
Back the Night March" here. This is not a Jewish event. There will be a
speaker who is a survivor of domestic abuse. It always gets very emotional
... any advice would be welcome

thanks
janeen
