[HANASHIR:6700] Re: CAJE

Friends--

One thing that should be noted and considered....

I too thought that the Soundswrite program was great! The one thing that I
noticed though was that it was really, IMHO, a "daytime session" in the true
programmatic sense of CAJE. It ended up (though NOT intenionally) skewing the
Evening Program schedule. Let me explain my point.... Because many of the
artists who were featured in it also performed on another night, there was
not as many time slots available to feature new and emerging talent at this
CAJE. This program ate up time-slots and made for Mondays hectic and
conflicted schedule. If this offering had been made as a daytime session
(like the Torah Aura workshops of this ilk from past CAJE's) then several
more performers might have been able to get onto stage as had been so in
years past.

The collaboration was, and is, great. I would observe though that this was
more of a "showcase" than a collaboration. I make these comments not to blunt
any efforts on the part of Soundswrite, Randee Friedman, or the Edu-tainment
chairs. More from a response to the comments already being shared on our
list. Please don't think of me as a nay-sayer here. I am very elated that
this music is out there for all of us to access and share. I am, as a past
Evening program co-chair (3 times) concerned that we are already
overprogrammed and inundated with requests to come, share and perform at
CAJE. We need to continue to creatively find ways to make room for true
evening offerings, and perhaps, eventhough there are many evening program
talent(s) included, recognize and keep these type of programs in the daytime
venues and allow for more performing talent to be on the evening schedule.

Last point...If you disagree with my comments, that's fine...understand
however that fewer people (overall) can be on that program if we choose to
continue these showcases. If we do, then we give up the right to complain
about not enough people being included in the evening program....

It was great to see everyone, as usual.....you all made me feel at home once
again--

Missing you all already--
