[HANASHIR:6698] Re: We Want Your CAJE Reports

I, too, agree with the comments I've read so far... yes, I think there
should be far fewer simultaneous concerts, simultaneous music-related
classes and simultaneous songsharing sessions so audiences are larger. I'd
also like to stress that we're there first to educate and to learn and
second to entertain.

Keeping that in mind, I'd like to make a few suggestions:

1-Try before and after lunch concerts, plus before and after dinner
concerts. Or "dinner theater"-type concerts where people eat quietly while
listening during lunch or dinner. (I don't think having concerts all day
long, including early morning, would work well.)

2-Collaborative concerts on related "themes," such as children's music, rock
style music, Israeli music, songs for the classroom, liturgical, etc.

3-More song-teaching workshops, with songsheets/sheet music and tape
recorders permitted to help educate teachers and fellow musicians. These
workshops could also be taught collaboratively by theme or could feature a
particular songwriter.

4-Worship services in which the music strikes a balance between the
songleader's own musical compositions and songs that are familiar to most in
attendance and encourage participation by worshippers. Please let's not
overload on original music at CAJE services.

5-Opening and closing events that involve the audience musically, such as
how CAJE 24's opening event taught us a lovely 2-part song by Doug Cotler.
